Making your benefit choices

To change or amend your benefits during the annual enrolment window, simply;

  • Enrol: select the ‘Enrol now’ button on the green module near the top of the page.
  • Add and review your participants: e.g.: a partner/spouse or child. Click ‘Confirm and continue’ at the bottom of the page.
  • Select your benefits: you will then be able to select your benefits which are divided into the following categories:
    - Health & Wellness
    - Leisure & Lifestyle
    - Risk & Protection
    - Retirement & Savings
  • Review your current benefits; they will show at the top of the page in each category, and you will have the option to make changes by clicking ‘Update’ next to each benefit.
  • Select new benefits: in each category click the ‘Enrol’ button next to each benefit and make your choices.
All benefits have a ‘View benefit information’ link where you can view details on each benefit including rates and important information before you sign up.
  • Enrolment summary: once you have made your choices, click the coin icon in the top right to view your ‘Enrolment summary’. Then click ‘Confirm and continue’ at the bottom of the page.
  • Final step – ‘Review your choices’: do a final check of all the benefits you have chosen and click ‘Confirm and continue’. You will need to review any pop ups relating to certain benefits, and review the terms and conditions.
  • Final step – tick that you have read the terms and conditions: click ‘Confirm and continue’.
  • You will then receive a confirmation email in your inbox. If you do not receive this, please log back into the platform to check you have confirmed your choices.

If the benefit you are choosing operates under Salary Sacrifice, you will need to agree to the terms and conditions pop up when you confirm your benefit choices.

What if I don’t make any selections?

If you miss the enrolment deadline for the end of year window, you will continue to receive your current benefits (with some exceptions) at the updated rates. These will remain fixed until the next enrolment window, unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) such as marriage or the birth of a child. Refer to “What happens when life changes?” below for more information on QLEs.

Benefit Information

At the top of the myChoice page, on the right-hand side is a ‘Benefit information’ drop down. Click here to view all benefits split into the relevant categories.

New to the Company?

If you’ve just joined the Company and do not enrol before the notified deadline date, you will automatically be enrolled in the Core Benefits (click below) for the remaining part of the myChoice year. Should you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) such as marriage or the birth of a child at any time, you can request a new enrolment window where you can make changes to your selections. Refer to “What happens when life changes?” below for more information on QLEs.

The core benefits listed (except pension) are effective from the date your employment begins.

BENEFIT OPTION
Pension* 4% of base salary
Life Assurance For Me 4 x Annual Base Salary/OTE
Death-in-Service Pension 25% of Annual Base Salary/OTE
Private Medical Scheme 4D Health 2 plan
Annual Leave** 23 days

*Your Pension will be effective from the first available payroll after your enrolment deadline.

**Annual leave will be pro-rated if you are a part-time employee or join the company mid-year.

What happens when life changes?

We understand that your personal circumstances can change and this may mean you want to amend your myChoice benefits.

Events which cause big changes in your personal situation are called ‘Qualifying Life Events’ (QLEs). A QLE allows you to make a request to change your benefits package.

What happens when life changes?

You should think carefully about your personal circumstances and use your QLE to request a change that will be appropriate and affordable in your new circumstances. A QLE includes (but is not limited to):

  • Having a baby or adopting a child
  • Starting/returning from maternity leave or adoption leave
  • Getting married, divorced, entering into a civil partnership or separating
  • Moving house (buying a property)

Once you have enrolled in myChoice, you may only request a change to your benefit selections either during the annual enrolment period or within eight weeks of a QLE.

Please be aware that annual benefits cannot be changed as a result of a QLE, e.g. Annual Leave Buy or Sell. This means that you can’t make a request to change your selections for these benefits mid-year. These can only be changed at annual enrolment. Also, some of the insured benefits will only allow you to make one QLE change each year and changes may be restricted.

To request a QLE window, follow these steps inside your myChoice account:

  • Go to the module that says ‘Has anything changed recently?’ and click the ‘Update benefits’ button.
  • This will take you to a list of QLE that you can choose from. Follow the steps to make the changes.

Choosing your benefits

Your checklist for selecting your benefits:

  • Plan ahead: will your current selection fit your circumstances next year? Have you considered whether the changes announced in the Important Updates section will have an impact on your selections?
  • Timing is everything: don’t leave it to the last few days to log in. Check your current selections now and leave plenty of time in case you change your mind.
  • Holidays: you need to re-select your days bought/sold. Remember, you can only buy/sell days during the annual window.
  • Planning a change in working hours? Remember that annual leave is pro-rated if you are a part-time employee. Stop and think before you buy holidays you may not be able to use!
  • Pension contributions: are you on track for retirement or do you need to put away a little extra next year?
  • Explore the pop-up links throughout the magazine for more information about the benefit or to see what extras you’re entitled to under certain benefits!
  • Confirm Selections: make sure you get an email confirming your choices if you have made changes to your benefits. If you have not changed anything, your benefits for the next plan year will be available in your myChoice account once the window has closed.

Remember, there won’t be a mid-year window in 2025, so the benefits you choose at this annual window will be “locked” in for 12 months (Jan to Dec 2025).
